Mervelous sounds for Saturday!

The late, great Merv Griffin's Birthday is July 6, and I thought I'd start my tributes a little early, because there's a lot to go up. This is a blog that takes its Merv seriously.

Enjoy.

Gospel music tomorrow, hopefully. And, notes on Leeworks.

At the moment, I'm hoping to get a Saturday post up before it ceases to be Saturday. I have exactly 48 minutes.

I'm also hoping to get some gospel music together for tomorrow (almost today). We had five or six power-outs today, so I'm a little behind schedule, blog-wise. However, I'm glad to have power--some folks in central Ohio do not at the moment.

In other news, I've had a lot of fun presenting original pieces on this blog, but I'm retiring my site composer position due to utter lack of interest. Not on my part, of course, but on the part of visitors. I just watched the download figure on my latest group of pieces (11 files in all) peak at 15, with three or four of those being my own tests! Dunno how many were zip-file downloads, but this still amounts to approximately one d/l per file. Woo hoo!!!! So, of course, why prepare material for upload when the demand is virtually nonexistent? (Sniff!)

However, seeing as how my Leeworks globally have five or six fans (all very savvy and sophisticated sorts), I will be more than happy to share old, present, or soon-to-come pieces with any or all members of that tiny group on an off-blog basis. For instance, I plan to do some "Bacharchesques," including a Burt-ized Star-Spangled Banner.

So, just email me. If you don't have my email, write, and I'll gladly give it. (Wait a minute....)

And that is the state of the blog on Saturday, June something (I forgot), 11:26 PM.

Ghost Riders in the Sky, Raymond-Scott-style

Don't ask me to explain the photo--I can't. Save to say that it features Perry (on horse) and me (on right). However, I can explain the piece you're about to hear. It's my impression of how Riders in the Sky might sound had Raymond Scott arranged it, say, about 1938. I wrote it on Noteworthy Composer® software, then doctored the file a bit with MAGIX. Randall asked for this, and I found the CD-R, and... here it be.
