From a "1968 Italian softcore porn documentary," no less. Wow....
I guess the song title has no hyphens. But it does on the Peter Pan LP. I think it works better with the hyphens, personally.
Looks like Lady Domi was right about Henri Salvador:

And look--hyphens!

Ha! And I didn't even cheat, like Googling it or whatever, ya know.
Do you mean that you have records by Henri Salvador? The true father of bossa-nova? One of France's first rock'n'roll singer under the name 'Henry Cording'? He used to sing mock rock'n'roll lyrics written by Boris Vian, who loathed that music and insisted that it'd never last... Even an all-round genius like Vian could go wrong sometimes... which is rather comforting I find!
"Mahna Mahna" was originally in a soft-core Italian porn documentary? Wow, that and "More" from MONDO CANE. Sure beats wah-wah guitars, doesn't it?
Domi,
No, I swiped this from Google Images. (Don't tell anyone.) I'd heard of Henri but didn't know anything about him. Thanks for the info!
Buzz,
The shocking true stories behind seemingly innocent instrumentals!

Oops. I mean, "Lee."

I will merely add that Henri Salvador is still alive and kicking at 80 and some, and that after years of success and fame as a 'funny' singer he decided about five years ago to impose, rather than disclose, his romantic side with an album of fine romantic (but no schmaltz, no no) songs. I write 'impose', because he always sang this kind of songs too, but record labels always capitalized on his lighter side, issuing those fun songs first and keeping at best the more romantic ones on the B side of the 45 rpms... which is a shame, because Mr. Salvador is a great singer (and guitarist) with a beautiful voice...
5:58 am, let's see what mood Boxnet is in today!
In a minute, Domi.
PS: One of my favorite songs by Henri Salvador is... 'Le blues du dentiste' - should I translate the title for you?!?!
Ummmm... "My Dentist Has the Blues"? (No?)
Hey, hope your dental appointment goes well! Hope your pain is relieved.
Box.net just got in a bad mood--it's down. Very. As in, totally. Speaking of pain....

In my peculiar case 'Dantesque' would be far more appropriate than 'dental'.
Il you don't hear from me within the next 24 hours, you'll know that the dentist will have succeeded where Rosie failed... Goodbye, cruel world...
